why should i ask for prayer?

hello there –

awesome question.

let’s take a look at a few verses for one thing.

job 42:10 puts it like this.

And the Lord restored the fortunes of Job, when he had prayed for his friends. And the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.

we can see that praying for others usually leads to blessings.

as luke 18:1 tells us we are to pray for those around us and not lose heart.

praying for others is a great thing to do as we now are sharing one anothers burdens.

1 Timothy 2:1-3 tells us that through prayer we can intercede for others.

this is known as intercession.

the verses listed above  state, First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Saviour.

1 peter 3:12 states, For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”

now, say someone you know is a drunk or a thief.

as a righteous man prays for that unsaved person, god will begin to move in that unsaved persons life.

i’m not saying that person will be saved but the prayers of the righteous are prayers that are heard by the lord.

hebrews 11:7 states, By faith Noah, being warned by God concerning events as yet unseen, in reverent fear constructed an ark for the saving of his household. By this he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith. just stop and think about it for a few minutes, he told the people around him what was to come and they didn’t listen.

i believe that the flood took so long to come because of the fact  Noah was seeking for the lord’s will and reverently praying for the salvation of those around him. i believe god waited just to see if those around  Noah would change their minds.

this is where we are heading to in this day and age with all of the sinful activities around us.

but god is holding off his return because of those seeking the lord in this vary day, praying for their family and friends to come to the cross and repent of their sins.

repentance should always be followed up by baptism.

“so just what do you crazy pentecostals believe anyway.”

in closing, don’t be afraid to pray to the lord at any time.

see Psalm 55:17
